The National Business Advisory Council (NBAC) bridges the gap between education and industry. Serving as an advisory body to BPA’s Board of Trustees, NBAC members offer strategic insight to ensure BPA programs reflect real-world business needs and prepare students for future careers.
Why NBAC Matters
Council members come from a wide range of industries and help shape programming that gives students practical skills and career-ready experience. Their diverse perspectives strengthen BPA’s mission and impact.
Member Contributions
All members of the Council are approved by the Board of Trustees based upon recommendations from the Council Chair and other members serving on the National Business Advisory Council. They are expected to:
- Provide insight on industry trends and workforce needs
- Advocate for BPA within their networks
- Recommend ways businesses can engage with BPA
- Support the development and refinement of BPA’s programs
Expectations & Time Commitment
NBAC members commit to a three-year term, with the possibility of reappointment. Responsibilities include:

Represent a career field aligned with Workplace Skills Assessment Program
Contribute through one or more of the following ways:
- Technical/Presentation Judging (National, State, or Regional) in-person or virtually
- Competitive Event Authoring/Auditing
- Virtual Meetings (workgroup or workshop/presentations for BPA members)
